Beach Ed day at Brighton Beach

What a fantastic time Room 2 had at Brighton Beach for beach ed with the Surf Life saver instructors.
We learnt a lot about being safe at the beach and in the water.
We learnt all about the different jobs surf life savers have to do!
Our favourite moments were - building sandcastles, pretending to be surf life savers, swimming & playing in the water.
It was a gorgeous sunny day - we can't wait to do it all again one day!!!

Friday Maths Fun!

In Room 2 on Fridays afternoons we have fun day maths time!

The children are in groups of 3 and they rotate around different maths activities & games.

Each activity is for 10 minutes and the children get to practice their maths, learn to work co-operatively, and most of all to have fun!!!

MACHINES WORKING AT OUR NEW SCHOOL

Room 2 children took a trip over the road to have a look at how the building of our new school is going.

We were fascinated by all the different machinery we could see working there!

Learning all about keeping ourselves safe in Room 2

Room 2 children spent the first two weeks of Term 4 learning all about "Keeping ourselves safe"
Some of the things we talked about were:

• the different ways we can feel
• the different ways we need to keep ourselves safe
• what our names, addresses and phone numbers were
• how to call 111 in an emergency

Tuesday news time

Our Tuesday news topic involves the children having to bring something to share or talk about that starts with one of the letters in the name of our school - ST MARYS MOSGIEL

Jacob brought along his Rugby Ball to share and told us how he likes to play rugby with his big brother.
Regan brought her very special toy called Tigger to show us - she has had Tigger since she was a little baby.

Harrison's family trip to Fiji
Harrison showed us some brochures to do with his holiday in Fiji.
It sure looked like an amazing resort that he stayed at - we wish we could have all gone on holiday with him last week!

Meet Charlie Bear!!!!

A big welcome to the newest member of Room 2 - Charlie Bear.
Charlie Bear had heard so many great things about us that he decided to come for a visit . . .
and it turned out that he had so much fun that he decided he would just have to stay forever with us!
We didn't want Charlie Bear to feel lonely each night in the classroom on his own - so as a special treat because he is such an awesome cool bear - he gets to have sleepovers with the Room 2 children!

Visitors from the SPCA

We were very lucky to have some visitors from the S.P.C.A today (Tuesday 15 May).
Marjorie Orr from the S.P.C.A came to see us and she brought along two of her dogs called Kudos  and Ralph.

They were lovely friendly dogs and the children had a great time giving them lots of pats and tummy rubs.

We all learnt about the importance of caring for our pets and how we must take care of all animals!

Marjorie also taught us about how to be safe around dogs.

We really loved meeting Kudos & Ralph!!!

Golfing Fun!

Room 2 has a fun morning learning to play golf with Melanie Harper.
The children are quite the experts when it comes to hitting the ball!!!
There are definitely some future Michael Campbells in Room 2!

Thursday 5 April

Georgia Baines shared her science news with us - with her special helper: Mr Andrew Baines!

They showed us an awesome experiment using vinegar & baking soda.

We discovered that when you mix the baking soda & vinegar together in an empty film canister and put the lid on . . . it makes the film canister shoots high up into the air!!!

Room 2 children thought the experiment was amazing!!!!
